What happens if the banana does not conform to the shape of the case? Does it have builtin technology to cope with such a thing?

Now that really is the clever bit. The banana guard is straight at one end and curved at the other end. So if your banana is staight then use the straight end , and if it is curved it fits the other end.
From experience most bananas fit the banana guard. Have a look at some of the pictures at www.bananaguards.com and you will see what I mean.
